Here it is boys and gals, our first of two mock drafts before the NFL Draft begins this Thursday. This is a complete first-round mock with analysis. Let us know your thoughts: Agree or disagree with our picks?

1. Carolina Panthers – QB Cam Newton, Auburn

Carolina is picking first for a…

*Projected trade. I predicted that the Vikings swapped their 1st round pick with the Giants. I also predicted that the Vikings will receive the Giants’ 2011 fourth and seventh round picks and the Giants will receive the Vike’s 2011 sixth round compensatory pick. The Vikings want a franchise…

Panthers - Marcel Darius DE

Ron Rivera is a defensive coach. He’s built his career in systems without a great QB. Von Miller is a great athlete but a LB hasn’t gone number one overall since 1988 (Aundray Bruce who played 11 seasons and didn’t make the Pro Bowl once). There are too many holes in Carolina, they have a solid running game and can find a serviceable QB for a lower price and still win games with a strong Defense. No second round pick also means this pick has to be a sure thing and Darius is the most sure thing that’s worth the price in the first round. What Carolina should strongly consider is doing whatever it takes to trade down and pick up a low first and second round pick.

2. Broncos - Von Miller LB/DE

Fox another defensive coach will give the Tim Tebow project at least another chance. Tebow can at least be servicable (my new favourite NFL term). Von Miller seems to be the only LB with first round talent. With loses at the DT position Denver can look at bolstering their defense. Von Miller combined with D.J. Williams will be a dangersous combination next year with the flexiblity of Miller.

3. Bills - Cam Newton QB

Chan Gailey has coached Cornell Stewart and input a whole offense to revolve around an athletic quarterback. With Cam’s inability to understand the terminology at the position and his amazing athletic ability, the Bills do need a QB to take their team to another level. It’s a tough decision after drafting Losman in 2004 but before Losman the last Bills #1 pick at QB was Jim Kelly.

4. Bengals - A.J Green WR

Chad Ochocinco is getting old, the T.O. experiment didn’t work. They need someone to catch the balls that Cason is throwing. The Bengals believe is Carson…at least for the next two years until his contract is up. The defense of the Bengals is what carried them to a surprising apperance in the playoffs two seasons ago. With A.J. Green they finally have that hungry, talented reciever that will be an extra option, and possibly push Chad to make them a complete team.

5. Cardinals - Pat Peterson CB

They need a QB to throw to Larry. They’ll probably pick a QB up free agency because they can’t take the risk of being set-back after Matt Lienhart’s poor performance. Pat Peterson can be coupled with Cromartie to shut down passing…u simply can’t throw away from 2 great CB’s.

6. Browns - Nick Fairly DE

The browns are terrible and they need the best player available right now.

7. 49er’s - Blain Gabbert QB

They have a new coach and 2 QB’s that are unrestricted FA’s. Even if they re-sign Smith they still need some insurance for the future. Blaine gives them the option to develop a young QB and hedge their bets if Alex is slow out of the blocks.

8. Titans -Da’ uan Bowers DE

Without Blain Gabbert dropping this far they can look at picking up a DE to get back to that strong defense and run the ball with CJ until they figure out which veteran QB is going to throw the ball for them.

9. Cowboys - Prince

This is nothing put pure favouritism. If the Cowboys don’t figure out their secondary there will be problems and rookie quarterbacks will be having 200+ yard games as I yell at my TV. Don’t drop the ball Jerry your corners are already doing that for you.

10. Redskins - Julio Jones

Santana Moss is a unrestriced FA. You have to get someone to throw the ball to Chirs Cooley’s nice but if you ask the Atlanta Falcons and Titans they’ll tell you “you can’t build a recieving core around a TE” and the Chargers would respond “…without a running back who’s a beast”. The Redskins don’t have a great running back but those come a dime a dozen (in my opinion). So they need to pick up someone who can replace Moss as an outside threat.

Watch my blog tomorrow afternoon for some Madden12 news.

I don’t know if i got this message late but ill be checking it out !

This is why Cam Newton cant have the keys to my Redskins Franchise, much less the offense. I would steer far away from this guy. VERY FAR.

Oh god.

Did he say gun?? This negro has lost his damn mind…(I’m black, not to say that makes its socially acceptable lol) but really Cam? I guess it was the same as Jamarcus Russell being overwieght, some things just get overlooked.

This is the first in a series of updates on the NFL draft, with each successive article focusing on a certain position or group of positions (in no particular order):

Quarterbacks

Running Backs and Fullbacks

Wide Receivers and Tight Ends

Offensive Line (Tackles and Guards)

Defensive Line…

I hope you guys in the states can take down us Canadians.

Now to the draft. In the past, I thought in regards to what teams ‘should’ do rather then what they will do, and have noticed that I have been watching the draft and shaking my head. This year I’m going to keep my focus on what they will do as irrational as I may think it is.

1. Carolina - Cam Newton QB, Auburn.

I am starting to be convinced that Carolina may go this route. Some of the reasoning behind it is they don’t have a pick until the 3rd round. Cam Newton does look like the sure fire pick here, but that is a HUGE pick to hold you’re hat on when you aren’t picking until the third round. I feel that Carolina can still sign a serviceable QB in free Agency (Billy Volek) or make some trades during the draft to get into the second round. It will be Cam Newton here though. I personally would rather them go with Marcel Dareus

2. Denver - Marcel Dareus DT, Alabama

3. Buffalo - Von Miller LB, Texas A&M

Great pick here. Gives buffalo a LB that they can use right away and can have an immediate impact. Allows him to get a ‘great’ mentor and Shawne Merriman or someone he can work with. Someone will be getting a lot of attention this season and someone else will be racking up the sacks.

4. Cincinatti - A.J Green WR, Georgia
Carson Palmer will be there this season. If not, they will select a QB in the second round a la Christian Ponder, Ryan Mallet. A.J Green will definitely elevate some of the pressure on the QB situation and give him whether it be Carson or someone they pick in the second round a receiver that will be on the team for a minimum of 10 years.

5. Arizona - Patrick Peterson DB, LSU

ALOT of people have Blaine Gabbert penciled in here and i can completely understand why, fact is there is more then one round in the draft, there will be a free agency EVENTUALLY, and I don’t see Mr. Wisenhunt wanting to go through another Matt Lienhart situation. Peterson goes here, they’ll get a QB via trade or free agency. They have shown before that you can win games with a Veteran QB, hope McNab likes the sun in Arizona.

6. Cleveland - Robert Quinn DE/OLB, North Carolina

7. San Francisco - Blaine Gabbert DB, Missouri

New Regime, new quarterbacks. We’ve all heard the cliche before, but fact is it rains true a lot of times. Alex Smith signed a one year deal which gives Gabbert just enough time to learn the offence and take the reigns from him. Great pick here.

8. Tennessee - Nick Fairley DT, Auburn

Slides a bit due his effort issues. A lot of word about how him and Dereus are interchangeable at #2, but tennessee will be taking him here unless Gabbert slides in which case they will pick him up. All that aside we got Nick Fairly and my guess will be the troubled Mallet in the second round.

9. Dallas - Tyron Smith DT, USC

Will all the Mike Pouncey talk about “ill be shocked if I’m not a cowboy” We all know that the cowboys will be looking to protect their star investment in Tony Romo by getting an o-lineman. Barring a trade down for Pouncey the Cowboys (booooooooooo Frankie) will be taking Tyron Smith cause he’s been said to be the next D’Brickashaw Ferguson.

10. Washington -Julio Jones WR, Arkansas

Frankie Casini's of Huddle Rebuttals Top 10

Ok so lets make the first as easy as mock drafts could possibly be.

I have read the messages that were sent to us and I see some interesting drafts and some very common first few picks.

This being a draft with no free agency coming before it means best player on the board is taken.

1. CAROLINA PANTHERS- CAM NEWTON -QB-

THIS IS AN EASY PIC BECAUSE THEY ARE IN NEED OF A PLAYMAKER AN IN NEED OF SOMEONE TO INSTILL SOME CONFIDENCE IN THEIR TEAM. WHO BETTER THAN THE HESIMAN TROPHY WINNER WITH THE LARGEST UPSIDE IN THE DRAFT.

2.DENVER BRONCOS- MARCELL DAREUS -DT-

THE BRONCOS GET EXTREMELY LUCKY HERE BECAUSE THE PANTHERS NEED THAT QB SO BAD. HE IS A GREAT DEFENSIVE PLAYER TONNES OF VALUE AND AN EASY NO BRAINER AT NUMBER 2.THIS HELPS THE BRONCOS IN THEIR LARGEST AREA OF NEED.

3. BUFFALO BILLS- VON MILLER -LB-

THEY NEED PASS RUSH THIS IS CLEAR, THEY WERE JUST HORRIBLE LAST YEAR. WITH DAREUS OFF THE BOARD THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST PASS RUSHER IN THE DRAFT AND PLENTY OF TALENT.

4. CINCINNATI BENGALS- A.J. GREEN -WR-

PURE TALENT AND SIZE AND EVERYTHING YOU WANT FROM A YOUNG RECIEVER, LETS NOT MENTION THAT THEY CAN KEEP HIM FROM THE BROWNS WITH THIS PICK TOO, A TEAM THAT WILL BE LOOKING AT THIS POSITION. HE WILL BE THE BEST PLAYER ON THE BOARD THAT FITS THEIR NEEDS.

5.ARIZONA CARDINALS- BLAINE GABBERT -QB-

ONCE THE WORDS “WITH THE 4TH PICK THE BENGALS TAKE WR FROM GEORGIA…” ARE SPOKEN THERE WILL BE A SMILE ON THE FACE OF EVERYONE IN THE CARDINALS ORGANIZATION NONE BIGGER THAN LARRY FITZGERALD’S WHO HAS BEEN MORE THAN OPEN WITH HIS CONCERNS ON THE POSITION. THIS IS THE BIGGEST HOLE ON A WHAT CAN BE SUCCESSFUL TEAM IN A DIVISION IN TRANSITION.THIS MAKES SENSE BECAUSE THERE IS NO CBA THEY CANNOT GO AFTER KOLD WHO HAS BEEN OPEN WITH HIS FEELINGS AS WELL, HE FEELS HE SHOULD START! THIS MAKES PERFECT SENSE AND THEIR BIGGEST SUPERSTAR HAPPY.

6.CLEVELAND BROWNS- JULIO JONES-WR-

THIS IS AGAIN BECAUSE OF NO CBA A TEAM CANNOT FILL NEEDS THROUGH FREE AGENCY OR TRADING SO THEY WILL NEED TO TAKE ONE OF THE TWO BEST WIDEOUTS AND JULIO IS THE ONE LEFT. ITS A TOSS UP WHICH OF THESE GUYS WILL BE THE BIGGER STUD BUT I THINK JULIO JONES IS A PERFECT ROOKIE FOR A REBUILDING TEAM.

7. SAN FRANCISCO- PATRICK PETERSON-DB-

EASIEST PICK SO FAR BEST PLAYER ON THE BOARD… MAY HAVE BEEN BEST PLAYER OVERALL (ONLY TIME WILL TELL). THIS GUY IS AN AMAZING ATHLETE AND A PERFECT FIT FOR AN ALREADY GIFTED DEFENSE. THIS IS A TEAM LOOKING TO MAKE A MOVE NOW! THEY ARE GOING TO GET A GREAT PLAYER WHO IS NFL READY, SOME THINK HE WAY MOVE TO SAFETY BUT I THINK HE IS FINE WHERE HE IS AND IF HE DOES THEN 7 IS NOT A BAD PLACE TO BE DRAFTING A SAFETY REGAURDLESS AND THIS IS PROBABLY THE REASON HE SLIPS TO 7 ANYWAYS. BOTTOM LINE 9ERS GET A GIFT AND EVERYONE IN THE BAY AREA WILL HAVE A PAT PETERSON JERSEY.

8.TENNESSEE TITANS- NICK FAIRLEY-DL-

I WANT TO START OFF BY SAYING THIS IS WHERE I THINK THE TRADING UP WILL BEGIN AND I KNOW THIS GUY IS ON EVERYONES RADAR. SO IF ITS NOT THE TITANS IT WILL BE SOMEONE ELSE GETTING HIM AT 8.

9.DALLAS COWBOYS- ROBERT QUINN -DE-

OK I ALSO THINK THE COWBOYS MAKE A DEAL BECAUSE I BELIEVE THEY ARE GOING TO BE FORCED INTO THIS PICK I THINK PRINCE AMUKAMAR OR J.J.WATT WOULD BE EXCEPTIONAL PICKS HERE TOO. I DONT THINK JERRY JONES WANTS TO HAVE HIS DECISION BE BASED ON BEST AVAILABLE HE HAS HIS EYES ON GUYS AND ITS TOO EARLY FOR OT TYRON SMITH SO I WILL BE SHOCKED IF THE BOYS DONT MOVE DOWN TO BULK UP PICKS AND ADDRESS MANY NEEDS IN THIS DRAFT.

10.WASHINGTON REDSKINS J.J.WATT-DE-

GREAT PLAYER AND IS THE SAFEST PLAY AT THIS SPOT. I THINK THE REDSKINS HAVE A VERY BAD PICK NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR A QB AND A LITTLE TOO GOOD FOR DL. BUT THIS IS THE BEST PLAYER HERE AND UNLESS THEY MOVE I THINK THIS IS THE MOVE THEY MAKE.

THE FANTASY FOOTBALL INFORMERS MOCK DRAFT Top 10

By Cris Benson The Fantasy Football Informer

I’ve never been a big NFL mock draft guy because when draft day comes I am always surprised how badly the “experts” blow it. And if they’re the experts how bad is my mock draft going to be as a fan.

Well when the guys at http://huddlerebuttal.tumblr.com asked me to put together a top 10 draft selection I asked myself, “how bad can screw this up?” To say the least I am sure people will hate my choices. Not because I don’t know what I am talking about. But because I drafted like any other NFL fan, talent before positional needs.

When you do a mock draft you have think about two things. First the talent that a player brings to a team, not the position but the talent. Can he jump in and contribute day one and is this player’s talent worth passing on a positional need.

Unfortunately most GM’s never think that way, they all stress over the positional need. This is the number two thing you need to think of when completing a mock draft. But I prefer going with what the player brings to the team rather then what the team must have now.

But that doesn’t mean I drafted with my heart in all these pick some of these teams need a positional player like Dallas for example.

But just once as a Bears fan I wish Jerry Angelo would cut loose and draft a talented player that we will find a place for rather than drafting for a positional player.

But that’s why I’m a fan. Here we GO!

1st Overall is CAR who will take DT Marcell Dareus, Alabama, 6-3, 319

Dareus first arrived on the national scene with a jarring hit that knocked Texas QB Colt McCoy out of the 2009 national championship game.

The Panthers new coach Ron Rivera is a defensive minded coach and he know this draft is not deep on QB talent. But Newton, Gabbert, and Locker are all risky 1st overall picks. While building a solid defense with a future all pro talent with Draeus is just a natural fit for Rivera.

2nd is DEN who will take OLB Von Miller, Texas A&M, 6-3, 246

Von Miller had 17.5 tackles for loss, 10.5 sacks and three forced fumble in 2010 while playing through an ankle injury early in the season.

Miller is a natural for the Denver Broncos who have wasted picks in the past with
players like Tim Tebow. Elway and company will not make the same as Josh (I look like a kid at that podium) McDaniels.

3rd is BUF who will not pass on QB Cam Newton Auburn 6-5 248

His upside, however, is tantalizing, especially in a draft lacking a sure No. 1 quarterback. If Newton can convince teams of his ability to mentally handle the conversion to the NFL as well as answer their questions about his off-field decisions.

Buffalo needs a talented young developmental QB and Cam Newton needs to sit his first year and learn how to read NFL defenses. This kid has a lot of upside and if in the right system could be a great talent.

4th is CIN who will go defense and take CB Patrick Peterson, LSU, 6-0, 219

Peterson entered the 2010 season hoping to establish himself as the top cornerback in the country. In winning the Bednarik Award as the nation’s best defender, the Thorpe Award as the nation’s best defensive back and being named the SEC’s Defensive and Special Teams MVPs, he may have proven himself to be the nation’s best player at any position.

I do not believe for one second Carson Palmer is leaving Cincinnati they paid him to play and they expect him to play. But the Bengals need Peterson’s defensive presence and his talent for putting defensive TD’s on the board.

5th is ARI who needs QB Blaine Gabbert, QB, Missouri, 6-5, 235

Gabbert’s decision to enter the draft early was a bit surprising, especially when considering his inexperience taking snaps from under center (though that would not have changed in Missouri’s 2011 offense) and inconsistency in the face of pressure. His size, quick release, arm strength and athleticism make him an intriguing prospect.

Can Gabbert play in the NFL right now? Yes he is talented enough to play right now but will he? That is up to Ken Whisenhunt who most likely will develop this young QB to eventually be his starter but not until mid-season.

6th is CLE who will not pass on the super talented WR A.J. Green, Georgia, 6-4 207

Green was dynamic in 2010, averaging a career-high 96.4 yards and over a TD per game, but missed the first four contests of the year following an NCAA suspension and caught 49 passes for 771 yards and nine scores in the regular season.

Cleveland needs this kid now! Draft a QB next year when the talent is going to be deeper. Green will provide an honest receiver who will be able to stretch the field when needed and is tough enough to battle for the possession of the ball.

7th is SF who will take the DT Nick Fairley Auburn 6-5, 314

Recorded 60 tackles, including a school-record 24.0 tackles for loss, with 11.5 quarterback sacks. Consensus All-American in 2010 and was named the Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Year by the Associated Press. In Auburn’s BCS National Championship Game victory over Oregon, Fairley had five tackles including three for loss and a sack while garnering defensive MVP honors.

San Fran would be nuts to pass on this kid who a great talent and has big game proven success.

8th is TEN who needs to take a gamble on QB Jake Locker, Washington 6-3, 231

Locker struggled to live up to the lofty expectations that came with his breakout junior season. He completed only 56.6 percent of his passes for 2,209 yards and 18 touchdowns (against nine interceptions) during the 2010 regular season and had some ghastly performances (including a 4-of-20 showing at home against Nebraska).

Jake Locker is the sleeper of all the QB’s but seems to be at his best when things are hard. He will struggle but the Titans need a starting QB now and Locker needs to prove his critics wrong.

9th is DAL who need to fill a positional need so enter OT Tyron Smith USC 6-5,307

Among the country’s highest-ranked prep offensive linemen, Smith wasted little time making an impact for the Trojans as the primary backup behind left tackle Charles Brown as a true freshman. He started the next two seasons at right tackle before declaring early for the 2011 NFL.

Smith has obvious talent. Blessed with the prototype combination of size, balance and agility, he has the potential to develop into a top-flight left tackle in the NFL.

Dallas needs a line to protect Romo and this is the man who can help them. Smith is a work in progress but a rare talent of size and speed for a big man, who can dominate match ups inside the tackles,

10th is WAS who will take WR Julio Jones Alabama

Jones had been expected to time in the 4.5-second range, but blazed across the Field Turf at Lucas Oil Stadium with a time of 4.34, bested by only three players in this draft class — Miami (Fla.) cornerback DeMarcus Van Dyke (4.25), Abilene Christian wide receiver Edmond Gates (4.31) and LSU cornerback Patrick Peterson (4.31).

The workout cemented a top-10 overall ranking by NFLDraftScout.com, and scouts were even more complimentary after learning Jones completed his workout with a fractured foot. He also played with a broken hand at Alabama.

Jones is a tough player and the Washington Redskins love players like Jones. Guys willing to risk it all to make a play and Jones would be a much needed addition to the Redskins.

Before The Bigs' Mock 2011 NFL Draft

Okay I don’t know too much about the skill level of all the draftees but I will do my best and with my philosophy about the value of players to their prospective teams.

1. Carolina Panthers – QB Cam Newton (Auburn)

I know that many “scouts” have him lower on the big board. However, after his performance in the national championship game and his own workout I couldn’t pass on his talent. He will come into the league as the biggest QB physically and he’s has intangibles that most don’t talk about he’s a winner and leader. I like Jimmy Clausen and I believe that Ron Rivera should let Cam and Jimmy compete for the starting job to bring out the best in both players.

2. Denver Broncos – CB Patrick Peterson (LSU)

I don’t know much about Peterson but he is the 2nd ranked player ranked overall by Scouts inc. I believe in football that if you have a chance to make a facet of your team a strength instead of balanced mediocrity. The Broncos already have a shutdown corner in Champ Bailey and with Peterson on the other side this would make the Broncos set for a couple years at cornerback and he would learn from one the best in Bailey. This would especially help the D-Line causing more “coverage sacks”. With one of the worst defenses in the NFL they can take some huge steps in this draft.

3. Buffalo Bills – WR Julio Jones (Alabama)

Another SEC pick for me, this time Alabama’s Julio Jones. A.J. Green is a phenomenal talent but Jones’ toughness is what stands out for me. Jones went to the NFL Combine with a broken foot and performed better than most of the draft hopefuls. To me this shows that he wants to be in the NFL and will play through injury. Plus, in Buffalo and the AFC East there will be a lot of cold weather games and you absolutely need players that aren’t afraid of difficult conditions. I believe that getting another great wideout will help the Bills offense tremendously. I believe that the Bills need to become like the Green Bay Packers offense, in a shotgun/spread out offense with Lee Evans, Steve Johnson, Julio Jones out wide and Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller in the backfield. This will hide the holes in the O-line just like the Packers did for most of the season with they’re starting tackles and guards injured.

4. Cincinnati Bengals – WR A.J. Green (Georgia)

Carson Palmer wants out of Cincinnati and it would be a huge loss to release him. With the new CBA coming Palmer’s contract would be tough to move. Just like a hurt lover you’ve got to show that person you will give them the best. A.J. Green is that coveted diamond that Carson is looking for and hopefully will keep him happy and motivated. Palmer is coming off a bad year and with Green being suspended by the NCAA they have a lot to prove, they might be the perfect match. With Chad Johnson and Jordan Shipley they would have a good core of receivers.

5. Arizona Cardinals – QB Blaine Gabbert (Missouri)

An easy pick for the Cardinals, they have too many problems to deal with already. They have needs at almost every position and drafting Blaine Gabbert would be a good pick to start turn a new leaf for the franchise.

6. Cleveland Browns – DT Nick Fairley (Auburn)

I like what the Cleveland Browns have done in improving their team and their defense is great and Nick Fairley would solidify the D-Line. Many have Marcell Dareus as the best defensive tackle but his ability is as good as anyone, plus his play in the national championship game speaks for itself.

7. San Francisco 49ers – QB Jake Locker (Washington)

The 49ers need to look themselves in the mirror and stop lying to themselves that Alex Smith is a franchise quarterback. I hope the 49ers brass watched the Super Bowl and realized what they missed out in Aaron Rodgers. The 49ers need a quarterback bad with all the talent in Fred Gore, Michael Crabtree and Vernon Davis. Jake Locker would be a great pick here and is a better talent than any quarterback currently on the 49ers roster. I like Locker’s athleticism, arm and toughness which would hopefully make the 49ers relevant again.

8. Tennessee Titans – DT Marcell Dareus (Alabama)

The Tennessee Titans need to replace the void Albert Haynesworth left and Marcell Dareus would help the defense improve hopefully into a top ten ranking. With top running backs Maurice Jones-Drew and Arian Foster in the AFC South stopping the run is pivotal to their success.

9. Dallas Cowboys – DE D’Quan Bowers (Clemson)

The Dallas Cowboys aren’t that great at D-line while running the 3-4 scheme and at 280lbs. defensive end D’Quan Bowers might be the right guy to for the system. Bowers had 16 sacks for the Clemson Tigers and could be scary with DeMarcus Ware playing behind him.

10. Washington Redskins – OT Tyron Smith (USC)

The Washington Redskins have a lot of needs on both sides of the ball but everyone could see that they need protection for the quarterback. They aren’t a great rushing team and this will help Mike Shanahan implement his zone blocking system. Developing O-Lineman seems to have always been Mike’s and that would make Donovan McNabb very happy.

Scott Currie from Hamilton Ticat's

Cam Newton

2) Denver Broncos - Patrick Peterson - the best football player in the draft

3) Buffalo Bills - Blaine Gabbert - Bills need a QB desperately

4) Cincinnati Bengals - AJ Green - What is happening in Cincy? A lot of offense jumping ship, so they need to replace it

5) Arizona Cardinals -Von Miller - need serious help on defense…linebacker especially

6) Cleveland Browns - Nick Fairley - Browns moving to a 4-3. Need some help to plug the middle and get some pressure

7) San Francisco 49ers - Marcell Dareus - Great value at pick 7. Can always use a big dog to clog up running lanes

8) Tennessee Titans - Da’Quan Bowers - the best pass rusher in the draft falls to #8

9) Dallas Cowboys - Mike Pouncey - according to this guy’s twitter, he’s already a cowboy

10) Washington Redskins - Mark Ingram - Redskins finally get a running back!

DRAFTS WILL BE POSTED AT 1:00PM EST Today!

Following that we will post a question so everyone can discuss why other picks make more sense then others!

The Fantasy Football Informer: Ian Cummings leaves Madden12 in Good Hands but Why Leave?

The Fantasy Football Informer: Ian Cummings leaves Madden12 in Good Hands but Why Leave?:
thefantasyfootballinformer:

Ryan was taken at No. 3 by the Falcons who have had three straight winning seasons.

Bill Parcells’ recent statement that he may have missed the mark by not taking quarterback Matt Ryan in 2008 (when Parcells was the Dolphins’ vice president of football operations) confirms the “safe pick” theory isn’t really all that safe.

The safe pick that year was left tackle Jake Long, and he has lived up to all his pre-NFL billing. He has been to three Pro Bowls. He has never missed a start. He’s a great leader on the field and in the locker room. In a normal situation, Parcells should be proud.

But to survive in the NFL decision-making business these days, playing it safe only works if the team has a great quarterback. With 59 percent of last season’s plays leaguewide designed for the pass, a great quarterback can cover for any hole on a team. A tackle, a defensive end, a wide receiver or any other position can’t do that.

On the surface, things couldn’t have worked out any better for Parcells and the Dolphins. He drafted his Pro Bowl left tackle and was lucky enough to find a strong-armed quarterback (Chad Henne) available with the 57th pick in the second round. Defensive end Phillip Merling was there for Parcells with the first pick in the second round, so Parcells left the draft feeling he had filled three key positions.

But taking the safe pick at the top of the 2008 draft still has the Dolphins looking for that elite quarterback. The Falcons have made two trips to the playoffs in the past three years with Ryan at the helm, and Ryan has the aura of a quarterback who will get a chance at a couple of Super Bowl rings.

You always hear analysts discussing the safe-pick concept of a team — particularly those teams toward the top of the draft. The problem with drafting in the top five or top seven is that one first-round pick isn’t good enough to turn a franchise around — unless he’s a quarterback.

Da'Quan Bowers May Slip to Second Round?

REPORT: Steve Wyche reports that Da’Quan Bowers’ medical recheck of his knee has revealed “potential long-term arthritis and some weakness.”

Charley Casserly: A number of teams I’ve talked to view Da’Quan Bowers as a high risk. Some won’t take him in the first round.

Charley Casserly: With the money you have to invest, you have to pass on Da’Quan Bowers not only in the top 10; but in the first round as well.

Michael Lombardi on Da’Quan Bowers: This is an old knee in a young body.
